Rashwan Malatya Kilim

An old kilim from Malatya in Eastern Anatolia.
Though classified as a medium size, this piece exceeds 220cm in length. What makes it truly remarkable is the exceptional density of the wool yarn despite its considerable dimensions. Woven tightly with meticulous detail, it has developed a beautiful patina over time, growing more supple and lustrous with age. Despite being composed of two panels, the left and right sides align with remarkable precision—matching in scale, position, balance, and the central seam.
