This antique kilim hails from Çorum (Çhorün), located in the Black Sea region of central-northern Anatolia.
Though not directly bordering the Black Sea, this inland area carries the distinctive characteristics of Central Anatolia.
With a rich history dating back to ancient times—including Hattusa, capital of the Hittite Empire, as well as the Hittite archaeological sites of Boğazköy and Yazılıkaya—this region is defined by rugged highlands interspersed with mountainous terrain, where irrigation supports expansive pastoral landscapes.
