Antep Cecim Jejim Cicim Kilim
Antep Cecim Jejim Cicim Kilim
An old Zijim kilim from Gaziantep in Eastern Anatolia. Located in southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border, this town was known as Antep during the Ottoman period before being renamed Gaziantep in the 1920s.
This kilim features a unique design with rare vertical color divisions, combining plain weave with zijim patterning throughout.
Woven with exceptionally fine, soft yarns, the fabric is remarkably supple with a cloth-like hand.
The color palette is refined and subdued with a subtle, sophisticated tone. The pastel zijim patterns resemble snowflakes, executed with meticulous precision and consistent regularity.
Kilim production has virtually ceased in this region in recent times, making this an exceptionally rare example.
Perfect as a throw for sofas, tables, and chests, or as a decorative accent piece.
