Have you seen the wonderful designs of William Morris?
A key figure in the Arts & Crafts Movement, Morris championed a principle of handmade production that didn't chime with the Victorian era's focus on industrial'progress.
The source of the rug comes from the book Antique Rugs of Kurdistan A Historical Legacy of Woven Art, James D. Burns, 2002 nr.6. This is one of the most popular and ubiquitous lattice designs of 18th-century rugs from Koliya’i, Southern Kurdistan area. Any danger of monotony is overcome both by the beauty and color of the individual shrubs and most importantly by their apparently random arrangement. The main border of dahlias with angular leaves alternating with irises, is called the zanbaqi pattern; is often seen on older Southern Kurdish rugs. The design of the rug is interpreted by our designers and soft colors are chosen for this rug.
