A celebration of natural wool, natural / botanical dyes, and the living art of the handwoven rug

Ararat Rugs is pleased to announce the Ararat Rugs Handwoven Carpet Exhibition, held in collaboration with ISHITAYA at the ISHITAYA Saigawa store in Kanazawa from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Under the theme “Satisfying the Five Senses and Weaving a Hundred-Year Story,” this special exhibition introduces a collection of handwoven rugs created from carefully selected 100% wool, hand-spun, dyed one color at a time with botanical dyes, and woven by skilled artisans using traditional techniques.

For generations, ISHITAYA has shared the value of natural materials: their gentleness to the body, their honesty, and their enduring quality. In this exhibition, those values are expressed through rugs that are not only decorative objects, but companions for daily life. Wool has a natural ability to regulate moisture, remaining comfortable in both summer and winter. The colors of natural dyes deepen with time, gradually gaining softness, character, and luster.

A true handwoven rug brings more than beauty to a room. It gives weight, warmth, and dignity to a living space. As years pass, it records the rhythm of family life and becomes part of the home’s memory. In this sense, an Ararat rug is both an expression of affection and a living work of art—something to be used, admired, and passed on to the next generation.

Visitors are invited to experience the authentic touch of natural wool, the depth of plant-dyed color, and the quiet presence that only a genuine handwoven carpet can bring.

Special Reservation Gift

Guests who make an advance reservation through the ISHITAYA visit reservation form and attend the exhibition will receive a MOKU thin long towel as a special gift.
Limited to one towel per family.

Limited-Time Wool Rug Cleaning Campaign

During the exhibition period, a special wool rug cleaning campaign will also be available. Rugs brought to the venue during the exhibition can be professionally cleaned by rug specialists for a special exhibition price of ¥5,500 per rug, tax included.

This is a flat-rate campaign, making it a valuable opportunity to refresh larger living-room rugs as well.

Please note: advance reservations are given priority; size does not matter; the campaign is limited to three rugs per family; customers using only the cleaning service are not eligible for the reservation gift; and some rugs may not be accepted depending on their condition or material.
